Discovery Park Engagement // Carla & Michael

Seattle Engagement Photographer // Discovery Park

I met Carla and Michael through a mutual friend that I had square danced with. Yes, crazy how those connections work huh?! Meeting these two was an absolute blast and it was pretty easy to find their connection and capture it with the camera. Carla is a hair stylist with a good knowledge of photography herself. She knows her "good side" and simply made that aware throughout our engagement session. Michael works for the United States Navy and nothing less than the gentlemen to sweep Carla off her feet. Turns out we had crossed paths years back while rock climbing... adds to the fact that it's a small world after all.

Time to do the photos: Through multiple emails and discussion we narrowed down our engagement session to somewhere in Seattle. Carla and Michael would require taking the ferry from Bremerton and I would commute from Bothell... so we opted for Discovery Park. This was my first time photographing here, but word of mouth says you can't really take bad pictures here. It sure has it's beauty! So, the day comes and we are planning our meet at the park prior to sunset. Carla notifies me that the ferry is delayed for some reason. No problem, we have buffer room. But she contacts me again and says that it's REALLY delayed! Doing the logistics we figure we'll have no more than an hour of light to work with. Probably 45 minutes once parked. I typically allot 2-hours for these sessions to move around and get settled in. We were determined, especially since the weather was so nice in a near rainy season. We met in the parking lot and flew from there! I couldn't have asked for better lighting, scenery or couple to work with. We rocked that session and made away with some really pretty images for their engagement!
